If you're having trouble accessing course content, this guide will walk you through possible causes and solutions related to subscriptions, group licenses, browser compatibility, and group access.
Login & Subscription Access
Log in with the correct account
- If you’ve purchased a subscription but still see Basic access, you may be using a different email or login method, like “Sign in with Apple” (which hides your email).
- Try logging out, clearing cache, or using an incognito window, and then log in with any alternate email or login method you may have used.

Purchase completed, but no access
- Check your payment status. Failed transactions revert you to Basic access.
- Check your subscription status in Account Settings> Subscriptions: https://www.datacamp.com/profile/account_settings/subscription
- Verify you have a Learn subscription because DataLab subscriptions do not include access to courses, only access to the DataLab workbooks
- See also: DataCamp's Products & Subscriptions.
Subscription has expired
- If your subscription has expired, you can retain your progress; however, you will need to purchase a learn plan to access content past the first lesson of every course. You can purchase a new plan here.
- See: Can I access completed courses after my subscription has expired?
I'm getting a banner that says I need to pay to continue learning
If you’re seeing a paywall banner, it means your account is currently on a Basic (Free) plan. For group subscriptions, this usually indicates that the team’s license has expired. If you have an individual subscription, the most common cause is being logged into a different account than the one with the active plan.
To resolve this, visit your Subscription page to check your current status. If you are part of a group subscription provided by your company or organization, please reach out to your Group Admin to confirm your license is still active.
Group Access
Joining a Group
Click the Join Group link in your invite email or open the invite link you received while logged in to your DataCamp account. Make sure to log in with the same email address the invitation was sent to; using the wrong email or login method (e.g., personal email or Apple sign-in) may cause errors.

Common group access errors
-
EE105 – Already in the group:
You're already a member. Visit Account Settings > Subscription to check your plan. If it says “You have access because you are part of a team,” head to the Learn hub to begin learning. -
EE106 – Invalid or expired invite link:
Ask your admin to resend the group invitation. -
EE109 – Unsupported email domain:
The email address domain you used to join the group differs from the domains the group admin selected when generating the invitation link. To resolve this issue, you can contact your group admin and ask them to send you an invitation via email.
No course access after joining?
If you joined a group but can’t access courses, it may be because:
- You're part of the group but were added as a Basic (free) member.
→ Check Account Settings > Subscription: If it says you don’t have a Learn subscription yet, ask your admin to assign you a valid license. - You have a proper license, but are still seeing Basic access.
→ Log out and back in, or try a private browser window to refresh your session.
Valid license types include:
- Classroom (for Classroom and Donates groups)
- Teams or Enterprise (for Business groups)
Once assigned correctly, your subscription page will say:
“You have access because you are part of a team.”
Admin notes: license management
Group admins must assign a Learn license (e.g., Classroom, Teams, or Enterprise) when they invite the learners to the group (via email or invite link). If Basic (free) was selected when inviting the member, they will not have access unless the admin updates their Learn license to the correct license type.
See:
Classroom groups last six months from their official start date and cannot be extended. To continue, admins must create a new group and invite learners again.
🛠️Browser & Technical Troubleshooting
- Ensure you use a supported browser—Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
- Clear cache and cookies, or try a Private/Incognito window.
- Disable interfering extensions, such as VPNs or ad blockers.
- Use the System Test Tool to check compatibility with your setup.

Deprecated or Missing Content
- Some older or legacy content may have been removed (e.g. specific R Lab modules).
- If you're missing a course or assignment that should be available, don't hesitate to get in touch with support or your program administrator.
Still Blocked?
If you're still unable to access a course:
- Capture screenshots of error messages, and your subscription status in Account Settings-> Subscription
- Include the course name or URL that you are unable to access.
- Include context for the issue you are experiencing.
