The DataCamp platform is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution accessible via the Internet through a web browser and/or the DataCamp mobile application. While it typically does not require any special software or configuration, this page outlines a few system considerations to ensure an optimal experience with DataCamp.

To help users validate their setup and diagnose potential issues, we provide a System Checker tool at https://system-check.datacamp.com/

This tool allows you to verify whether your environment is fully compatible with the DataCamp platform.

Desktops & Laptops

For the optimal DataCamp experience on a desktop or laptop, we support major releases of the following browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Safari

We begin supporting each new browser version as soon as it is officially released.

To prevent issues such as video playback errors or missing features, we recommend disabling browser extensions and ad blockers, as these are the most common causes of interference with DataCamp functionality.

Mobile

For the optimal DataCamp experience on mobile, we support the following mobile software versions:

Android

  • Android 7 or higher

iOS

  • iOS 15.1 or higher

Note: For Android and iOS mobile devices, DataCamp's mobile content is also available via Safari and Chrome browsers.

Interactive Experiences

DataCamp offers courses with interactive experiences to promote learning by doing experience. For some of the technologies used in interactive experiences, additional configurations might be required.

Google Sheets

For Google Sheets courses, users will need to be able to access:

Sigma

For Sigma courses, users will need to able to access:

Business Networks and VPNs

When multiple users access DataCamp from a business or academic network, or when using a VPN, we recommend the following network configurations:

  • Add *.datacamp.com to your whitelist.
    • Datacamp platform is served from *.datacamp.com using several subdomains of datacamp.com.
  • Ensure outbound traffic on port 443 (HTTPS) is allowed.
  • Ensure Websockets can be established and are not restricted by network policies.
  • Add @datacamp.com to your email allowlist or safe sender list.
    • This ensures you receive important updates and prevents our messages from being marked as spam.

If connection issues persist, DataCamp may need to whitelist your organization’s NAT Gateway IP addresses to prevent users from being blocked by our rate-limiting or firewall controls.

VPN and NAT Gateway Whitelisting for DataCamp Access

If your organization connects to DataCamp through a VPN, corporate network, or private cloud, your outbound traffic may be routed through one or more NAT gateways or VPN concentrators.

To ensure consistent access and prevent firewall blocks, DataCamp can whitelist your organization’s public egress IPs (the IPs DataCamp sees when your users connect).

This article explains how to identify, verify, and submit these IPs for whitelisting — including ASN (Autonomous System Number) information for validation.

When You Need Whitelisting

You should submit your public egress IPs for whitelisting if:

  • Your organization’s users connect to DataCamp through a VPN or a restricted corporate network.
  • You experience blocked access or authentication issues when connecting from internal networks.
  • You can provide DataCamp with a list of approved IPs to allow DataCamp to trust your traffic.

Before submitting your IPs for whitelisting, please ensure that:

  1. Your Outbound traffic uses static public IPs
    • These IPs should be associated with your NAT gateways or VPN concentrators.
    • Dynamic or consumer VPN IPs (which frequently change) cannot be whitelisted.
  2. You can provide ASN (Autonomous System Number) details
    • The ASN helps confirm IP ownership and network legitimacy.
    • Example: AS16509 – Amazon.com, Inc. (AWS)
  3. You have ownership or administrative control of the IPs
    • The IPs must belong to your organization or a dedicated cloud environment under your control.

How to Find Your Public Egress IP and ASN

  1. Connect to your VPN or corporate network.
  2. Visit one of the following tools to identify your outbound IP and ASN:
  3. Record the following information:
    • Public IP address or CIDR range
    • ASN and organization name
    • Region or data center (e.g., AWS us-east-1)
    • Component type (e.g., NAT Gateway, VPN Gateway, Firewall)

Information to Provide to DataCamp

When submitting your request, please include the following details in your message to our Support Team or your Customer Success Manager:

Example:

# Public Egress IP / CIDR ASN ASN Name / Organization Component Type (NAT Gateway / VPN / Proxy) Region / Data Center Notes / Owner Contact
1 3.94.128.12 AS14618 Amazon.com, Inc. (AWS EC2) NAT Gateway us-east-1 (Virginia, USA) joe.bloggs@company.com
2 20.50.75.100 AS8075 Microsoft Corporation (Azure) VPN Gateway westeurope (Netherlands) ops-team@company.com
3 203.0.113.44/30 AS16509 Amazon.com, Inc. NAT Gateway ap-southeast-1 (Singapore) network-admin@company.com

Submitting Your Whitelist Request

Contact our Support Team (or your assigned Customer Success contact) with:

  • The completed table above
  • The purpose of the whitelist (e.g., API access, classroom connectivity, SSO integration)

Updating or Removing Whitelisted IPs

If your organization:

  • Changes VPN or NAT gateway configurations
  • Migrates to a different cloud region
  • Adds or retires egress IPs

Please notify DataCamp immediately to update the whitelist and maintain uninterrupted access.

Whitelist Best Practices

  • Use static Elastic IPs or dedicated NAT gateways for all VPN egress traffic to DataCamp.
  • Maintain an internal registry of all approved egress IPs, ASNs, and owners.
  • Review your configurations quarterly to ensure accuracy.
  • Notify DataCamp in advance of any planned infrastructure changes.

Need Whitelisting Help?

If you’re unsure which IPs or ASNs to provide, your network administrator or cloud infrastructure team can help identify them.

You can also contact our Support Team for assistance or validation before submission.
