Access to Workspace

If you are an individual DataCamp user that is not a member of any groups, you have access to DataCamp Workspace.
If you are a member of one or more DataCamp groups, each of the groups that you belong to should have granted its users access to Workspace. Depending on the legal terms your group signed, there are different options for the group admin to enable or disable access to Workspace:
  • Groups that are on DataCamp's standard terms: users have access to Workspace; admins do not have the ability to disable access to Workspace.
  • Groups that have negotiated and agreed on custom terms: admins can control the access to Workspace through a toggle in the group settings pane.

An overview of the different pricing plans can be found on DataCamp's pricing page.
DataCamp Workspace offers four plans, one of which is a totally free plan that allows you to use DataCamp Workspace for free indefinitely.

  • For DataCamp learners looking to take the next step in their learning.
  • Totally free.
  • You can create an unlimited number of workspaces and publications.
  • You can share your workspaces and publications with an unlimited number of people or make them public.
  • Your data science code runs with 0.5 vCPUs and 4 GB of RAM.
  • The filesystem size of your workspace is limited to 5GB.
  • There is no limit on the number of hours you can spend coding in your workspace, as long as you're not abusing the computation resources available to you (e.g crypto mining)

  • For individual users with a need for more speed and memory.
  • Get 4x the speed (2 vCPUs) and 4x the memory (16 GB of RAM) compared to the basic plan.
  • Costs $9 per month or $99 per year when billed annually.
  • No limit on the amount of machine hours (assuming fair use).

  • For small and large DataCamp groups looking to collaborate on data science projects.
  • Costs $9 per editor per month, or $99 per editor per month when billed annually.
  • Editors can create/edit/execute/publish/share workspaces and integrations in the group account. Group members that do not have a subscription can only view the group workspaces that were shared with them.
  • Editors get 4x the speed (2 vCPUs) and 4x the memory (16 GB of RAM) compared to the basic plan.
  • [Coming Soon] Set up secure connections over SSH through a fixed IP to access your company's data stores.
  • No limit on the number of machine hours (assuming fair use).
Note: All academic and DataCamp Donates groups are on the Teams plan and every member of the group has a Teams license for free!

  • For larger teams and businesses who need more control and support.
  • Run Workspace in your company's virtual private cloud, so your data never leaves your networks.
  • Custom pricing and invoicing depending on your needs.
  • Dedicated Customer Success Manager

What's a vCPU?
When you run code on DataCamp Workspace, you run this code in an isolated environment on one of DataCamp-managed cloud servers that you share with other users. Typically, 8 to 16 users are using the same physical server. To ensure every user gets a fair share of the processing power available on the server, every user gets a type of 'budget', which is expressed as a number of vCPUs, short for virtual CPUs. If every user gets 0.5 vCPU and the CPU resources of the server are contended (because everyone is doing heavy computations), every user gets a fair share of the CPU resources. If one of the user has a paying subscription, they get 4x more 'budget' on the CPU resources. In that case, if CPU resources are contended, the code of the paying user will finish 4x faster.
What if I run out of a disk quota in my workspace?
Every workspace has a maximum filesystem size of 5GB. If you run out of free storage, you are no longer able to edit or access your project. Contact us and we'll solve it for you.
Can I run multiple workspaces at the same time?
Yes! You can have several workspaces open, active and executing code in different browser tabs.
