What are Credits in a business plan?
On Team and Enterprise plans, Credits measure how much time your members spend in AI Tutor courses.
How do Credits work for my team?
- Every Teams and Enterprise plan receives a Credit allowance. Credits operate on an annual cycle and reset on your subscription date each year.
- Admins have the option to control Credit usage limits per member.
- Credit consumption is calculated from the number of hours a member spends in AI Tutor courses. One credit equals one hour of AI Tutor time.
- Members can take any AI Tutor course, as long as they stay within their available Credits. There is no per-course unlock step.
- A learner in several groups needs available credits in each to use AI Tutor.
How many Credits does each plan include?

How can I manage the Credits in my team?
You have three levels of control:
- Group Limit: Your organization's total AI Credit allowance for the period, set with your DataCamp team. Track usage and see when you're nearing the cap. This limit is set by DataCamp.
- Default User Limit: You can choose to apply one per-user credit limit across all members at once—a simple way to distribute credits evenly and keep usage in check. This limit is set by the Group Admin and is applicable to all team members.
- Custom Limits: You can opt to override the default limit for specific members—give power users more, or cap others. Remove it anytime to revert to the default. This limit is set by the Group Admin and applies per member, as configured.
Editing limits is admin-only.
Where can I manage the Credits for my team?
- Open Group Hub and go to Members.
- Select the AI Credits tab to see group usage and every member's limits.
- Set a Default User Limit, or select members to apply or remove a Custom Limit. Group Hub → Members → AI Credits
Frequently asked questions
Can we buy more Credits or top up?
Yes. If your team needs more Credits, contact your DataCamp Account Manager. Please note, there is no self-service option in the platform for groups to top up or buy additional AI Tutor hours.
How is usage counted?
By the time spent in AI Tutor courses. One credit equals one hour of AI Tutor time.
Admins can set an optional per-member limit or disable AI Tutor for some members to help manage consumption.
When do our credits reset?
Every year, on your subscription date. Usage resets and the per-seat limits apply again for the next year.
Will we be notified if we are near our usage limit?
Members can see their own Credit usage in Account Settings.
Admins receive usage alerts notified as their group nears (80%) and reaches (100%) its Credit limit.
Why can’t I see the Credits tab in Group Hub?
The Credits tab appears for groups with the AI Tutor experience enabled and a non-zero credit allowance.
