How are dates and times recorded?
At DataCamp, we serve a global community of learners. To ensure consistency and standardization across all accounts, all dates and times on statements of accomplishment are recorded in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
This standard applies to all certificates, regardless of your local time zone.
Why does my certificate show a different date?
Because our system uses UTC, the date on your certificate may appear different from your local date if you completed the course near the end of the day.
For example: If you complete a course on November 30th at 10:00 PM (22:00) in Mexico City (CST), it is already December 1st at 4:00 AM (04:00) in UTC. Therefore, your certificate will display December 1st as the completion date.
Can the date or time be changed?
We cannot manually modify, backdate, or adjust the timestamp on any statement of accomplishment. The system automatically generates these credentials at the exact moment of completion in UTC to maintain the integrity of our records.
If you are submitting your certificate for a deadline or official documentation, please feel free to share this article with your instructor or employer to clarify the time zone difference.
