Why was my DataCamp payment declined?

Problem:

I’m trying to pay for my DataCamp subscription, but my payment keeps getting automatically canceled.

Background:

If your DataCamp payment is declined, it’s usually due to your card provider or bank’s automated security measures. Other possible reasons include:

Payment-Specific Issues:

  • Exceeding payment limits on your card
  • Insufficient funds
  • Your bank doesn’t accept charges in U.S. Dollars
  • Your bank doesn’t accept overseas charges

Other Possible Causes:

  • Incorrect payment details (e.g., wrong information entered)
  • Network or connection issues during the payment process
  • Payment-related restrictions from the Reserve Bank of India

Solution:

Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

  1. Double-check your payment details: Ensure your information is correct, including your name, billing address, and email address, and make sure they match what’s registered with your card.
  2. Try a different payment method: If you continue encountering issues, please consider using Google Pay, Apple Pay, or PayPal.
    • Note: Indian users must complete the e-mandate process, as Google Pay, Apple Pay, and PayPal aren’t currently available for payments for Indian users.
  3. Use the DataCamp mobile app: The mobile app provides additional payment options, and once you complete your purchase, you can access the same premium content as on the desktop version. Your subscription will work seamlessly across all your devices.
  4. Contact your bank: Due to security measures, payments may be blocked. Contact your bank to confirm if they have declined the payment. If they’ve confirmed that the transaction should go through, waiting a day or two may improve your chances of success when retrying.
