My account auto-renewed, can I get a refund?

    No one has called me / reminded me / took my consent before renewing the subscription , I took it for only 1 year , suddenly 90$ transaction was made on my credit card. Please cancel this transaction and refund the amount and later please remove my credit card details from your site .

    I didn't know I still had an active subscription, and it automatically renewed. At least no reminder it sent to me and no one called me , Please cancel this transaction and refund the amount immediately. This is not ethical & legal , please call me at +91 9491381044 and respond to this email.

    Hi, 

    I was charged $149.00 on 04/01/19 for my auto-renewal under my account for philipduffy12@hotmail.com.

    Please refund this ASAP - as seems to be the case with other members, I was not notified about the annual renewal in advance and I am no longer interested in your services.

    I also have the same issue, I forgot to cancel my subscription and I've been charged for another years subscription. Amount get automatically detected and my financial condition is not good, I will not able to pay the bill. I already raised a ticket. I want a refund, Please help me as soon as possible.

    I just saw a $149 charge on my credit card this morning. Please remove it immediately. I don’t think is good practice on your part - there is no email or notification warning me that you’re going to charge my card. Again please cancel my subscription and refund the amount.

    I have already contacted my credit card company to let them know of the situation.

    Hi - I just saw you have charged my card without notifying me about subscription renewal. Could you please refund 219.88 AUD immediately. I am contacting my bank to let them know about this transaction.

    So it clearly says that there would have been a notification before the auto-renewal. I received no such email. I also think it is shady for a service, meant to help professionals, to take advantage of the fact that people have little recourse in disputing these types of charges.

    I also have the same issue, I just saw a $149 charge on my credit card this time. I didn't any message and e-mail for automatically charge issue. It's bad situation to me. Cound you please give me a refund?

    I didn't use data camp for a long time, but my yearly subscription renew was made with out any reminder before being charged. Can I get refund to my account?

    I just saw $149 charged on my credit card for auto-renewal for DataCamp on 1/8/19, but I didn't get any message or email about this automatically renewal charge. I haven't use DataCamp for a while, and am not intend to use next year. Please cancel my renewal, and refund the money.

    Hello Robert,

    I was auto-renewed for yearly subscription for a sum of US $149. I did not get any email either before or after the effect. My personal circumstances have changed and I do not want it to be renewed. There is no phone number for DataCamp to call and discuss as well. 

    I request you to kindly refund the charged amount. When circumstances change I will re-sign on my own. But at the moment I need the sum back.

    Update: Hello everyone. We've taken your feedback into account when it comes to subscription renewals. While we have been able to confirm that our email notification system is working as expected, we explored other ways to increase transparency and make renewals or cancelations frictionless processes. 

    I'm happy to announce that our Subscriptions page has been completely revamped to include all of the information you should need; including the exact renewal date (if any), renewal amount and other payment related details. We've also conducted various customer interviews and used the feedback to adjust the copy in DataCamp to make things easier to understand.

    The changes should be live as of today for all customers. We will be rolling Help Center updates in the coming days to reflect the changes in the product.

    Robert ... dude - some feedback for you:

    I have scoured my inbox for your notification email (and did it again just now when I saw your comment) - there’s nothing. So saying that “our notification system works as expected” is a total BS answer. Have you actually reached out to anyone here who has complained that they never received a notification? And you want to solve this problem by bringing transparency to a page that, I’m guessing, most of us never visit? This is not good.

    I appreciate that you’ve refunded my subscription payment but I will stick with platforms like edX which I find far more trustworthy.

    Thanks for your feedback. For context, even if our email system is working as expected, it's still entirely possible that you may have not received an email. One of the biggest culprits could be your firewall settings -- especially if you're using a work email. 

    I have personally reached out to multiple people on this thread via our ticketing system. For others, I created tickets on their behalf so our team could investigate. After a certain point number of investigations, both from this thread (and an even larger number) via email, we were able to confirm that the email notification system was sending emails each time.

    The culprit was either emails making it into customers' Spam folder, or the above Firewall scenario. This is when we started asking everyone to email us directly for a thorough investigation. 

    I'm sorry we missed you. We respect your decision and will investigate your specific account either way. I'll create a ticket for you and someone will reach out. Please stay tuned.

        The same problem. I was charged $180 and I did not receive any email or any notification. I had not used datacamp for several months. I might reuse it some time later and I will pay for it, but not now. please refund me $180.

    I've got the same problem as most of the above.

    Yesterday I was automatically charged by 29$ dollars and my subscription was renewed without any email in advance that that will happen .

    I don't have a plan to join the course for the next few months but I forgot to cancel my subscription.Nowadays i need this money, Could you please give me a refund? I will be back to the course when I am ready. Thanks!
