Question:
I didn't know I still had an active subscription, and it automatically renewed. Can I please get a refund?
Answer:
DataCamp is a subscription service. By signing up you agree to our Terms of Use and your account will automatically renew at either a monthly or yearly interval, unless you cancel or stop auto-billing.
You may cancel your subscription at any time. However, we do not refund or prorate unused portions of a subscription. This means that if you cancel your subscription, it will no longer auto-renew, but you will retain access until the end of your subscription, and the subscription amount will not be automatically awarded.
More information can be found in our Terms of Use. Monthly subscribers can also find information on the renewal policy in the initial email sent by DataCamp. Yearly subscribers will receive a reminder before being billed.
While a refund cannot be granted for the situation posed in the question at the beginning of this article, we try to be as understanding as possible, so there are exceptions. We investigate each case individually for confirmation, but here are examples where a refund would be granted:
- You were accidentally charged twice in the same month
- You accidentally set up payment for two of your own DataCamp accounts
If you believe you have a valid case for a refund, please contact the DataCamp Help Desk by submitting a ticket from the Help Center or emailing support@datacamp.com directly. We'd be happy to help.

Robert Cabral , I also accidentally paid twice and I raised a ticket , but no reply I got
Mprince799, it looks like a member of our team replied and resolved this a few hours ago. Have a great day!
Hello Robert, I used the subscription only for a few months last year and it was no doubt good. I want to thank for the wonderful courses. Unfortunately my career goals have changed and i am no longer on this learning path.
My account got auto debited couple of weeks back without any warning/notice, would be thankful if the payment can be reverted. I have already cancelled the subscription as i don't need to use it.
Wish you and your team continued success. Please consider, it was my hard earned money.
Best Regards,
Dinesh
I find it a bit underhanded that there is no reminder before a subscription auto-renews. Renewal notifications are a standard practice for SaaS companies. The combination of no reminder and a "no refund" policy is a poor user experience, as well as questionable business practice. I would have expected better of DataCamp.
I have stop subscription in March but I found out that you guys have been charging me and somehow my account is still being activated.
Hello Roberto Cabral

Thank you.
Jose Luis.
Hi,
I was charged $300.00 on 11/26/18 for my auto-renewal under my account for kupatange@yahoo.com Please refund this ASAP - I have not been and am no longer interested in your services. This is a terrible customer experience by not notifying the customer regarding a renewal.
Hi Robert,
I am experiencing the same issue. I forgot to cancel the subscription before the annual payment date and it deducted the amount automatically from my account. Kindly help me in getting a refund. Thanks
Even I have not received any reminder. Please refund my amount as I cannot pay to my credit card. My email account is smrutiiteesh5@gmail.com.
Please resolve my issues asap.

Hi,
I am writing to you for a breach of terms of yearly subscription renewal on your end. I did not get any confirmation email for the renewal of yearly subscription as you mention in your article. Please revert the transaction and refund my money asap. I don not want to renew my subscription.
Regards
Aditya
Hi,
Same issue, I just got charged for another year.
Please revert the transaction. Ticket number: #127427
Regards,
Sava
I got auto renewed for another yearly plan without my knowledge yesterday. Id like a refund asap. Ive already deleted this account and have no intention of using this service. My Bank says they cannot refund the money and that DataCamp has to do it.
If I don't get a 150 refund I will reach out to the Better Business Bureau and report this.
Your site doesn't allow to delete the payment method... you can only replace it. And if i delete the account I wouldn't have been able to access the content that was paid for. So in essence I'm having to remember to cancel the membership the day of the auto renewal.... that shouldn't be allowed.
my ticket number is 127472
I want my refund asap
I want my money back. I never received a notice of renewal prior to the money being withdrawn today for which is a major problem. If you'd look at my account you would have seen it's been months since I've last signed in, which indicates I'm not using your product. Since you're trying to be a reputable learning platform, perhaps you should have reminded me and many others complaining here that we still have your product, but you didn't which sends red flags. If you don't want me to share negative feedback about your services within my company and friends, I will kindly ask you do the right thing and refund my payment that was taken today. Thank you.
Hi, I am on maternity leave so no loner require a data camp subscription (I was on an annual membership). The above mentions that yearly renewing members are sent an email before the renewal occurs - this didn't happen in my case, I was not aware I was going to be charged before it happened. Is it possible to look into this and issue a refund? I sent an email to the support team two days ago, but haven't received a response (ticket number 127154).
Many thanks,
Jeanette
FYI I’ve already reached out to the better business bureau about this and filed a complaint. I suggest u all do the same.
Hi,
I haven't been using datacamp for many months as I found that your content is not fit what i'm looking for.
I bought a yearly subscription last year, but I haven't realized this has been set to Auto-renew.
(I don't understand why this is default to Auto-renew and I didn't get any notification before I got charge)
I have now cancel my subscription but you have already charged me for another year.
I have no plan to use your service anymore, and I would like to ask for a refund please?
Hi Robert,
I am facing the same problem as the people above, my subscription got auto renewed without any intimation or an email prior to or even after the renewal, I am not actively using datacamp any more, 90$ is not something I can afford as I am in a lot of debt. I think it is better if you guys can change the interface or get rid of the system of auto renewal which many of the users are unaware of. This is not customer friendly as you are not even informing the user before renewing subscription, Can I please get refund and cancellation of my subscription, I already dropped an email but there was no response yet, please refund my money as soon as possible as it is very important to me at this point of time.
Thanks

Yesterday I was automatically charged by 90$ dollars and my subscription was renewed without any email in advance that that will happen .Renewal notifications are a standard practice. The combination of no reminder and a "no refund" policy is a poor user experience. I would have expected better of DataCamp. DataCamp is a learning platform, this kind of issue shouldn't happen in the first place. Imagine what new user will think?
I had no intention of paying the new subscription since I am not using DataCamp services anymore. Please refund. Thank you.

HI Data Camp
This does not look good in terms of your business model where a lot of people are complaining about auto renewal without informing or notifying anyone. There is no option to prevent this. This is an educational site and making people go through such experience will refrain others to come back to this site. I was also charged without any notification or intimation this is not good. My ticket is opened and the ticket #128191.
I always liked the the way you taught but in one moment all these good experience is going away because of your such weird rules and terms.
Please help!
Vikram
Hi everyone,
I totally understand the frustration here. But I would like to confirm that DataCamp does, indeed, send email notifications before the renewal date. If you are a yearly subscriber, you would have received it a week before your renewal date. New subscribers receive an initial email as well as messaging in the product.
As a reminder, all subscriptions are auto-renewed unless they are proactively canceled from your account settings.
That said, we understand that things can happen, emails can get filtered into spam etc. Please email us at support@datacamp.com so we can work together and find a solution. While you're welcome to post here, the best way to speak with a member of our team is to email us directly.
We hear your concerns and it's an ongoing conversation internally to figure out what we can do to improve the renewal process for you. I'm happy to say that we will be working on some changes in the near future to make sure we cover all our bases when it comes to renewals and subscriptions.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- our goal is to make sure you have a positive experience with DataCamp. That includes making sure you know when your subscription ends and getting the Support you need when things don't go as expected.
I was automatically charged by 150$ dollars and my subscription was renewed without any email in advance that that will happen . Since I do not want to be a subscriber of DataCamp anymore, I want to cancel my subscription and kindly ask you if you could refund me the sum you deducted from my account? I had no intention of paying the subscription for this month since I am not using DataCamp services anymore.

Hi Robert,
Thanks for agreeing on my refund, I'm very appreciate this.
I finally have found the notification email, which you were right. It was buried under a thick layers in my Junk Mailbox (Outlook.com). Since I have stated that I haven't received it so I would like to come clear on this too.
I still think we need a better system, regarding to this huge thread. I don't know myself what is the best solution but maybe a combination of Mobile and Email? I also cannot help but thinking there shouldn't be an auto-renew by default, and if I have to miss a promotion because I forgot to renew that should be on me as a user. At least that sounds much better than I'm calling the bank wondering about a payment I forgot about a year ago.
Still, that doesn't change the fact that I really like your content. I'm working closer to many Data Scientist these days and soon I might have to come back to it again, since now I'm bit relief.
there always a possibility.
Thanks
Hi robert
I dont have notification for renew i am uncomfortable for renew
Please refund for auto renew your program
And let me know soon
Robert - Same has happened with me today. My card has been charged for an yearly subscription. I didn't know there would be an auto-renewal of Datacamp subscription. However, I need to take a break from the learning. I have sent a mail and cancelled my subscription already, but yet to receive a response from your side. Please provide a resolution asap. Atleast respond to the mail.
Ticket Number - 132125
Thanks Robert for processing the refund at the earliest.
