Overview
Whether you're a new user or an existing member, this guide walks you through how to join a group successfully, explains common issues (such as error messages like EE105, EE106, or EE109), and outlines how to resolve them.
How to join a group
-
Invitation from Admin
- Group administrators (typically from your company’s L&D team) can send you:
- An email invitation from the Members tab of the Group dashboard.
- Or a shared invitation link via your company’s communication platforms.
- Group administrators (typically from your company’s L&D team) can send you:
-
New Users
- If you don’t yet have a DataCamp account:
- The invite email will prompt you to create one.
- Once your account is created using the same email address, you’ll be added to the group.
- If you don’t yet have a DataCamp account:
-
Existing Users
- If you already have a DataCamp account:
- Clicking the invite link will automatically enroll you in the group.
- You can also accept the email invitation to join.
- If you already have a DataCamp account:
-
Email Domain Matters
- You must use the correct organizational email domain that matches the one used in the invitation.
-
Example: If your company is
@datacamp.com, ensure you log in with yourname@datacamp.comemail.
Common errors & how to fix them
EE105 – Invite Invalid
Cause: Error EE105 appears when you attempt to use an invite link to join a group that you are already part of. Once your account is successfully connected to the group, the invitation link cannot be reused.
Solutions:
- Verify Your Membership: - Log in to your DataCamp account. - Navigate to Account Settings > Subscription. - Check if your status indicates you are already 'part of a Team'.
- Access Your Courses: Open your Dashboard from the Learn tab. As long as your group membership is active, you should have unrestricted access to the courses.
- Check Your Login Credentials: - Ensure that you are logged in with the same email address that was used for the invitation.
Another reason for this error is when you register and try to register with an email address that is not the one that got the invite. E.g., john@acme.com was invited, but I tried to create an account under jake@acme.com (a secondary email I own).
EE109 – Email Address Domain Not Allowed
Cause: You are logging in with an email address that doesn't match the group’s required domain.
Solutions:
-
Use the Correct Email:
Confirm you're logging in with your organization-linked email. - Try to avoid auto-fill forms, as they may contain the incorrect login information. Type your details in manually.
-
If the invite was sent to the wrong email, ask for a new invite:
Contact your group admin to resend the invite to the correct email address.
EE106 – Invite Link Invalid
Cause: The invite link has expired, is invalid, is no longer active, or the group no longer has an active subscription.
Solutions:
-
Request a New Link:
Ask your admin to withdraw the old invite and generate a new one. -
Check for Email Typos:
Ensure the original invite was sent to the correct email address. -
Try a Different Browser:
Use Google Chrome and clear your cache before retrying the link.
Troubleshooting Tips
If none of the above steps help, try the following:
-
Clear Browser Cache
Some issues are related to cached sessions or cookies. Clear your cache, close your browser, and try again. -
Use the Learn Tab
Already in the group? Access courses directly from your dashboard, the invite link only adds you to the group, you should not use it as a way to navigate to DataCamp courses. -
Account Confusion
Make sure you’re not logged into a personal/free account. Log out completely and log in with your organization-associated credentials.
Admin Tips (for Group Leaders)
- Always ensure you select the correct email domain when generating invite links.
- Remind learners they need to log in with the email to which the invite was sent.
- If learners still can’t access the group, confirm their license type (Basic vs. full access).
Still Seeing an “Upgrade” Button?
If you’ve successfully joined your group but still see an "Upgrade" button, your license might not be active yet, or the group subscription may have already expired.
What to do:
- Contact your group admin to assign you a full license instead of the default Basic (free) one.
- Reach out to your group admin to check that the subscription is still active.
- Ask your group admin to confirm that you have a license assigned and that you haven't been removed from the group by mistake.
- You can find your admin's name in the email invite you received
