How to Resolve Issues When Joining a Group

If you're having trouble joining a group, make sure you're using the correct email domain associated with your organization. Below are common issues and how to resolve them.

1. Use the Correct Email Domain

To successfully join a group, you must use the same organization email domain that was used to invite you.

Example:
If you work for DataCamp and were invited to join a DataCamp group, you need to log in with your DataCamp-associated email (e.g., bot@datacamp.com). This ensures that your access is properly recognized when joining via a shared link or email invitation.

2. Common Error Messages & Solutions

EE105: Invite Invalid

Cause:
This error occurs when you try to accept an invitation to a group that you are already a member of. Since you’re already in the group, there's no need to claim the invitation again.

Solution:

  • Verify Your Membership: Go to Account Settings and check your subscription status to confirm your membership.
  • Ensure the Correct Email is Used: If you’re unable to access the group, ask the group admin to resend the invitation to your preferred email.
  • Check for a Notification to Join: If your email is already associated with an account, you may see an in-app notification prompting you to join. Click on the notification to complete the process.

EE109: Email Address Domain Not Allowed

Cause:
The email address you used to join does not match the required domain for the group.

Solution:

  • Use the Correct Email Domain: Ensure you're logging in with the correct organization email.
  • Request a New Invitation: If needed, contact the group admin to resend the invite using the correct email.

EE106: Invite Link Invalid

Cause:
The invite link you followed is either invalid or has expired.

Solution:

  • Check the Invite Link: Make sure you are using the most recent and active invite link.
  • Request a New Invitation: If the issue persists, ask your organization admin to send you a new invite.
