What is the Learn Leaderboard?
The Learn Leaderboard for individual subscribers is a gamified learning enhancement that groups individual learners into small, randomly selected groups to compete against each other. You can earn points by completing courses, practices, and projects, achieving milestones, and actively participating in learning activities. The goal is to motivate and inspire you by fostering a healthy sense of competition and community.
Your journey starts at Bit League and progresses to the elite Yottabyte League:
- Bit League
- Byte League
- Deca League
- Hecto League
- Kilo League
- Mega League
- Giga League
- Tera League
- Peta League
- Exa League
How Does It Work?
Earning XP (Experience Points)
- Earn points by completing lessons, practices, or projects.
- A minimum of 250XP is required to qualify for a leaderboard each week.
Cycle and Timing
- The individual leaderboard follows a weekly cycle from Sunday to Sunday (UTC).
- It resets at midnight UTC to start fresh for the new week.
Promotion & Demotion
- The top 7 users in each group move up to the next tier.
- The bottom 7 users are demoted to the previous tier.
- In Bit League (Tier 1), the top 15 users get promoted with no demotions.
- You can only go up/ down one tier each week.
Automatic Enrollment
- Once you reach 250XP, you are automatically placed in a leaderboard for the week—no extra steps needed.
Exiting and Returning:
- Individual users cannot currently leave a learn leaderboard.
How to Access the Leaderboard Feature
- Log in to your DataCamp account.
- Select the Learn Tab.
- Navigate to the "Leaderboard" section from the main menu on the left.
- Start completing activities to climb the ranks!

Can I choose my group members?
No, you cannot choose group members. Groups are randomly assigned to maintain fairness and provide opportunities to interact with diverse learners.
How often are the groups refreshed?
The groups are reshuffled every week on Sunday at Midnight UTC.
What happens if I don’t participate?
While participation is optional, being active allows you to earn points, contribute to your group, and enjoy the full benefits of the feature.
Are there any penalties for low performance?
No, the leaderboard is designed to motivate rather than penalize. It’s about celebrating achievements and encouraging progress.
How can I be removed (opted out) from the Learn Leaderboard?
There isn't an option to be removed from the leaderboard. However, you can hide your profile and name from public view by going to Account Settings and checking the "Hide my profile and name from public view" box.
